Andalucia E-Bike Tour 3 Days
In spring 2019, we offer a unique opportunity to experience the Andalucian mountains and natural parks with an electric mountain bike. The tour starts from the city of Ronda, which is an impressive attraction in itself. Cycle with an e-bike from village to village at your own pace, even the uphills are a pleasure to ride. The famous “Pueblos Blancos”, white villages, glisten on the slopes of the mountains. In this part of Spain, nature is surprisingly green and lush. We use quiet roads where the cyclist is king and cars are sparse. In these mountains and villages, you are a world away from the touristy coastline. Electric bike touring is certainly a different way to experience genuine Andalucía. The sun and good food complete this unforgettable tour.

In the morning, we’ll go through all equipment and pack the bike bags. Extra stuff you can leave with us. When everything is ready, your electric bike adventure can begin! First, you’ll cycle out of Ronda on small country roads. Be sure to stop at a distance and admire this town, which is built on the edge of a cliff. An impressive sight. The route rises up to vineyards and farmlands. Bustle of the city is left behind, here you can enjoy peaceful cycling in the countryside. Just in time for lunch, you will arrive at the first “white village”, Setenil de las Bodegas. Part of this unique village has been built under rock cliffs and the place is a famous attraction. In the afternoon, the tour continues through Torre Alhaquim to Olvera. The hilltop church and castle are visible from afar. From the roof of the castle, incredible views over the surrounding countryside open up. Overnight in Olvera.
Day 2 (50 km)
This will be an interesting day. First, you’ll cycle downhill north of the village, from where starts a “via verde”, ie. a former train track now modified into a cycling path. This particular section, “Via Verde de la Sierra”, has received recognition and awards over the years. The experience is breathtaking: high bridges, dozens of tunnels and easy cycling on flat surface without cars. Vultures circling in the sky; the local population is one of the largest in Europe. There are some cafes along the route and a nice lunch restaurant at Coripé. Here the route leaves the track and follows a small mountain road south. It’s a long downhill ride and occasionally you’ll see a glimmer of the Zahara de la Sierra village, nestled high on a mountain side with a turquoise reservoir just below. In the evening you can admire the sunset from the village’s viewpoints. Overnight in Zahara.
Day 3 (55 km)
Now the route takes you to the heart of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. The road rises towards the mountains and provides excellent views of the Zahara artificial lake. At the highest point, about 1200 meters, there is a lookout point. Take your time and catch your breath. Now begins a spectacular descent into Grazalema village, surrounded by mountains. This region is among the rainiest in Spain. Clouds swirling from the Atlantic drop their rain on these mountains, and nature gets greener as you cycle south. In Grazalema village you definitely need to park your e-bikes for a while and stroll around Plaza de Espana and the church area. Small shops sell local delicacies. Journey continues east, with delightful cycling through forested hills. In the afternoon you reach Montejaque and Benaojan villages, latter of which is famous for its pork sausages. Both offer nice tapas bars. A few km’s onwards and you’ll have a chance to swim if you visit Cueva del Gato, a beautiful fresh water pool in the mountain side. An underground river surfaces here. Continue towards Ronda and enjoy the last climb, as the afternoon sunlight illuminates the huge cliff and city on top of it. Perfect ending for this memorable tour!
